8-Year Old Baseball All-Stars – Win Semi-Final game, play in championship game on Saturday,5/26 at 10am

The KLL 8-yr old all-star baseball team defeated Palma Ceia 9-0 in the Citrus Park Friendship Tournament semi-final game, earning a berth in the Championship Game.  Due to last nights rain, the second semi-final game has been moved to tonight and the Championship Game has been re-scheduled for Saturday, 5/26 at 10am.  Come to Citrus Park Little League on Saturday at 10am to support the KLL All-stars as they play for the Tournament Championship.

8-Year Old Softball All-Stars – 3rd Place Finish

The KLL 8-yr old all-star softball team has completed play in the Citrus Park Friendship Tournament, finishing in 3rd place.

The Keystone Rays (23-1) continued their dominance on the softball diamond by beating the Citrus Park Comets 2-1 to win their 3rd consecutive Major Softball Tournament of Champions (TOC). Morgan Noah had the game winning HR in the bottom of the 6th inning.  Pitchers, Morgan  Noah and Jenna Hampton combined to strike out 12 Comets. The Rays gave up only one run during the tournament.

Thanks to all of those that came out last Sunday (May 20, 2012) to cheer on many of our beloved Keystone Coaches and Managers as they competed in the Spring 2012 Home Run Derby.

Eleven teams fought for the title of “Most Home Runs by a Team” in Round One and the top four teams moved on to compete in the Championship round with the following results:

• 1st Place – AAA Phillies – Bob Noah, Jay Jackson & Mike Beecroft
• 2nd Place – A Giants – Gary Jacobs, Eric Crall & Kyle Dallmann
• 3rd Place – AA Giants – Tom Quinn, Chris Torgusen & Clay Grissom
• 4th Place – AA Rays – Matt Masters, Julio Chiong & Anthony Box

In addition, Jay Jackson from the AAA Phillies won the individual award for “Most Home Runs by an Individual” with a grand total of 39!

During a post-event interview, Jay Jackson shared this…”We would like to thank all of our fans for supporting us throughout our training, where we ate burgers at Courtside along with a few diet cokes, as well as during the event. Special thanks to the kids in our picture for heckling the other teams during the final round.”

Keystone LL would like to thank all the Coaches and Managers who participated in this event and a special thanks to 12-year old little league player James Sanchez who kept the crowd informed and engaged through his animated announcing during the Derby.

Finally, this event would not have been possible without the thoughtful planning and preparations done by our own Keystone Little League Board Members, Bart Gunderson, Anthony Sanchez, Marcia Kiltz, as well as the many other dedicated volunteers who helped out with set-up and take-down for the event.

It was a great family day at the ballpark!

Major Softball Division

Keystone’s Major Softball Rays are undefeated during Tournament of Champions (TOC) pool play at Bayshore Little League this week.  The Rays beat host Bayshore Little League 10-0 and Citrus Park 12-0.  The Rays play again Tuesday night at West Tampa Little League vs. Interbay Little League at 8pm.  If they win Tuesday, the championship game will be Wednesday at West Tampa Little League at 7pm vs the winner of Tuesday’s Citrus Park vs Palma Ceia/Tampa Bay game.

8-Year Old All-Stars – Baseball

The 8-Year Old All-Star Baseball team is undefeated after pool play at the Citrus Park Little League Friendship tournament.  Keystone Little League was a perfect 2-0 after last night’s 12-2 victory over West Tampa Little League.  On Saturday, Keystone Little League defeated Interbay Little League in the first game of Pool Play.  Keystone has earned the #1 seed and a first round bye.  They next play in the semi-final round on Thursday, 5/24 at 5:30pm at Citrus Park Little League.  If they win on Thursday, Keystone would play in the championship game on Friday, 5/25 at 7:00pm at Citrus Park Little League.

8-Year Old All-Stars – Softball

The 8-Year Old All-Star Softball team is 2-0 in the Citrus Park Little League Friendship tournament and remain in the winners bracket of the 6-team, double-elimination tournament.  Keystone next plays tonight (Tuesday, 5/22) at 6:00pm at Citrus Park Little League.

Please join us on Sunday, May 20th at 2:00pm, Field #4, for our Spring 2012 Manager/Coach Home Run Derby. This competition is Keystone’s way to thank our dedicated Managers and Coaches who’ve given so much time and energy to the kids during the season, and to provide fun and entertainment for all.

Twelve 3-man teams have formed to compete and one team will be crowned the Keystone Home Run Champion!

The concession stand will also be open so bring your family out for some baseball fun and entertainment!!
